Are you open to Him using your vocation to reach the nations?
You like working in the arena for which God fitted and trained you. You are creative and full of ideas…and work diligently in your vocation. That is certainly positive, but do your goals go beyond trading your time for dollars and dreams? Do you not want larger and lasting impact? What you want is a way to integrate work, personal strengths, and discipleship to reach people cross-culturally. You want options.
You’ve come to the right place. Tentmaking, whether Business as Mission (BAM) or Profession as Mission (PAM), allows you to integrate all you are and do with God’s global calling. And Global Opportunities (GO) helps you through this whole challenging, but fulfilling process by helping you to…
- Discern God’s will
- Understand the Biblical model
- Integrate discipleship in all of life
- Learn workplace witness
- Make disciples and leaders
- Find a job overseas
- Get equipped to be effective
“Alan” and his wife took teaching jobs in China in order to bring Christ to Chinese people. “Alan” taught English to young professionals. He and his wife opened their home and invited the students to come to an English language Bible study. In a short time, several came to Christ. They began inviting and sharing with others. When “Alan” and his wife had to leave after two years, the group had grown to about 30 and developed into a house church led by its own leaders. After they left, the church repeated the pattern and started eight more churches!
God used workplace witnesses, tentmakers, to launch the explosive growth of the church in Acts and in the centuries following. The apostle Paul and his co-workers all worked to support themselves in proclaiming Christ. In fact, we call this tentmaking because that was Paul’s profession. God can use you in your profession. And letting him use you beats just pursuing the American dream.
[pullquote3 align=”right”] Tentmaking is powerful because it invites regular, everyday Christians, all Christians, back into full engagement in reaching the world.[/pullquote3]
Tentmaking is powerful because it invites regular, everyday Christians, all Christians, back into full engagement in reaching the world. It can transform the Church, when we inject its DNA back into the lifeblood of the Church.
God calls all of us to be global Christians because he is a global God. He cares for all peoples and is working to redeem some from every people group. As we give Christ our profession, he can use our work to reach our co-workers even in difficult nations without changing to a ministry profession.

The vision of Global Opportunities (GO) is to introduce Christians to tentmaking, equip them, and help them get overseas as effective tentmakers. While finding a job overseas can be challenging, the bigger challenge by far is being effective after you arrive.
GO prepares Christians to become effective through advice, training materials, intensive 4-day courses, mentoring, and ongoing partnership. GO also partners with church leaders, mission leaders, and professional organizations who see the power of tentmaking and pursue it.
