There was still snow on the ground and the lake was frozen over, but 34 students found their way to Iso Kirja Bible College in Keuruu, Finland. We met in a traditional log classroom that was ideally suited for an intensive course. One student came all the way from warm Brazil but still had the “sisu” (guts) to swim in the frozen lake after sauna, much to the delight of the locals. Another student, “Johnny Appleseed”, a long-term tentmaker currently located in the Middle East, contributed both his enthusiasm and vast experience to the benefit of his fellow classmates (His story below). And God’s perfect timing was demonstrated in one student who, soon after the course ended, was approached by his employer with an opportunity to go work for them in Asia!
Here are some of the comments from students.
I have learned that God wants us to improve our character. I want to put what I have learned into practice on Monday.
Very compact and impacting package and I want to teach some of this in my church.
We can be working on this here at home ever if we never go abroad.
This weekend has really shaken my concept of missions and I know it will have a great impact on my life.
Ari and Steinar, you guys rock!
Looking forward to applying what I have learned.
I really appreciated your pedagogic and clear approach to teaching. Easy to absorb.
Thank you for sharing your mistakes! It gives me encouragement .
Since we are getting ready to go this course has really given us a clear roadmap.
Great to meet so many people with a similar passion!
It’s been great to learn that tentmaking is really the plan of God. I feel so blessed at the end of this course!
It has been good to learn that it is not impossible to share the Gospel in closed countries!
The next Tentmaking course in Europe is scheduled for November 23 – 26, 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
